Haas picks a player ranked 30 on the points list for Presidents cup – find out who it is here

This week, Jay Haas did something no Presidents Cup captain – on either side – had ever done in the 21-year existence of the event.

The U.S. captain used one of his picks on a player ranked 30th on the points list. Outside of the top 10 who automatically qualified for the team, that means 19 other players had accumulated more Presidents Cup points during the two-year ranking span.

It was the first time a player ranked that low in points had been selected.

Beyond the statistical anomaly, Haas picked a player who admittedly has not performed up to his standards the last two years, a player who has not won a tournament during that two-year span and who has just four top-10 finishes in his last 39 starts across the world.
